Today at the LOS meeting I was fortunate to hear a lecture by Jean Allen-Ikeson of Windsor Greenhouses on Bulbophyllums with an emphasis on hybridization within the genus. There were plants from Dorris Jensen's collection for sale and I was able to get some great plants. I also heard that the book Mrs. Jensen is working on is almost ready for publication, can't wait for that to be available because it will be fantastic from what I have heard. The new plants include Bulbo rufilabrum Bulbo barbigerum Bulbo gymnopus Bulbo santosii Bulbo penicillium Monomeria barbata !!!!!!! I was a little slow to approach the sales table and missed a few I have been after for ages but I am happy with what I came away with. The Monomeria was unexpected and I am absolutely thrilled that I was able to add it to my collection. Mike

Monomeria is a small genus closely related to and possibly having been sunk back into the genus Bulbophyllum. I was not familiar with Monomeria before I got this plant but I do remember having seen a photo of Monomeria dichroma before and being very impressed. Here is Monomeria barbata on IOSPE www.orchidspecies.com/monbarbata.htmwww.orchidfoto.com/displayimage.php?album=448&pos=6The plant is quite large even though it is described as being small to miniature on the ISOPE site. The pseudobulbs of my plant are 2" tall with a 9" petiolate leaf and 3" of rhizome between each growth. I find the long inflorescence and the well spaced flowers attractive and the blooms themselves are pretty amazing from what I see in photos. www.mail-archive.com/orchids@orchidguide.com/msg08895.htmlMike

That’s so sweet Mike.
I wish I had just showed up to buy plants lol
I see you got another barbigerum to replace that other one. Mine is still going along fine and I'm hoping it gets big enough to take a chunk off so I have a backup, don't want to lose this little guy.
That’s so cool that she had some of Dorris' plants. Her and Claudio are friends and he's gotten some pretty cool plants from her. I deff would love to see some of her plants and or get some of them haha
Where are you putting these guys? I remember you saying that you were getting crowded with all the other ones lol

I'm very jealous, I went to the Houston Orchid Society show today and there were an entire two bulbos in the displays and I saw one for sale. When I went back to drop the $10 the guy wanted for it, it was already gone. Bulbos get no love! It was a pretty neat sounding cross too, longissimum x macraei

Justin believe me it's crowded and there are a bunch more Hoya species and a couple orchids coming in a few weeks to add to the insanity. The humidity trays in the photo were put together yesterday to house some of the new plants. You should see my orchid case, it's so full that there are plants hanging around the entire inside front and sides and I have resorted to using suction cup planters stuck to the walls.
Rtsingleton that does sound like it might be a nice cross. I wonder if the lateral sepals would be fused or not? It would be a big plant that's for sure.
