Hi, Three plants from the Hyalosema section that has been in flower recently. Received the first one as B. fritillariiflorum, but got it identified as B. cominsii years ago. The petals are differently shaped from the other two, as well as B. longisepalum and B. cf. grandiflorum (arfakianum) "green/alba" that I have posted pics of before. The margins of the petals are not curved back as on the other ones. Also the leaves are not as wide, or paddle-shaped as B. grandiflorum. Purchased this one as B. cominsii, but it looks like a B. grandiflorum. Colors, and the shape differ a bit from my other forms. This one I got as B. species "Hyalosema red", and as can be seen there's nothing red about it. Looks like a normal B. grandiflorum. Regards, Christer

once again amazing pictures Christer, they never cease to amaze me!
Your post's are becoming a great reference for this section, the only Hyalosema that is doing anything for me these days is B. fritillariflorum it just keeps flowering and flowering. The other just want to grow and do nothing else.

PS. Maybe we'll have to trade seed sometime because we both know our species are correct, I have yet to get a B. cominsii and you seem to have horrible luck getting a true B. fritillariflorum.

Thanks people! Great to hear that the B. fritillariiflorum is so floriferous. At least the others grow well for you, so you will have strong (and flowering) plants with time. Yes, I have a few what might be B. fritillariiflorum/arfakianum, but unflowered. I got a young plant from an auction and the source have later on auctioned out several flowering plants (probably siblings to mine) with the correct flower. Mine have been slower, but the latest growth are decently sized (10 cm/4 inches) so it should be flowering size now. I have been waiting on my B. antenniferum to start flowering, since my old (now dead) plant seemed quite eager to flower. Although I found a spike recently, it is obvious that this one in reality is an umbell-flowered species. So once more a mislabeled plant Also, have another Macroclinium, and Sophronites alagoensis (if its correctly labeled) spiking, as well as Dracula astuta that I aquired not so long ago. Regards, Christer
