Hi,
I am not sure how many people are still active here, but I thought I'd try to post a question.
I have recently acquired a Bulbo moniliforme. I have to admit, I was expecting a much better plant, but what came was a rather sad looking thing, with lots of dried up and rotted old pseudobulbs, and a few green ones. It was mounted on coconut fibres which, when I took off, had a core of sphagnum moss.
I mounted it on a piece of cork, with no moss or anything, and as the plant was so sad looking, I decided not to use any fishing line or anything else to attach it to the mount, as there are so few green bulbs (I wouldn't even say they look healthy!). I put a cut out piece of lady's tights over the whole mount to avoid the plant from falling off.
Does any of you grow this plant and if so, how do you grow it? I have heard that it needs to be kept drier than other Bulbos, or the plant will rot completely. Also it seems to have a dormant winter, so I am at a bit of a loss as to how to best care for this plant.
Any advice would be welcome, although to be honest, looking at what I received, I am not holding much hope for this plant.
Francis

Try to hold out hope for your little guy. B. moniliforme can be very easy to grow once it settles in. I saw that you have two Pleuro tanks. I would suggest putting it there with the high humidity for now (as long as its not for cold growers). If your worried about the ladies tights over it, you could always grow it raft style instead of mounting it. just lay down a piece of cork and place the plant on top, this way theres nothing interfering with the plant. You might also want to add a little bit of moss under the plant, these guys don't like to dry out fully. How humid can you keep it? Also pics could help too

Thanks Justin,
That is great to know. I will keep an eye on it, then... I just don't think it was a strong plant to begin with, and with only just a few bulbs left on the plant, I am not sure if it will make the transition from Malaysya to the UK.
Thanks,
Francis
